I find that I’m more content in the wrestling as I age. My goal is less a final, definitive conclusion and more the joy of discovery as I examine differing arguments. It allows me to listen with compassion and understanding to those who differ. And it always means I’m forced to confront my own views with humility as I hold my “rightness” with a loose hand.

Alarming where modern interpretations lead one to conclude.

I first heard the quote—“the Bible was written for us, it was not written to us”—from Dr. H. However, I believe it may come from Paul originally based on 1 Corinthians 10:11:

“Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”

I love this! My secondary and tertiary ideologies aren't always the "norm," and I am okay with being different. (I mean, I'm team Priscilla for Hebrews ;) ) I also love to hear others' ideas on a topic too. Conversing on scripture is one of my favorite things, and disagreements are part of growing. But you are so right, it must be done with complete humility. Thanks for this article! I'm so glad you are willing to take on this topic.
