I Just Care More About Theology Talk Tuesday!!!
A Special Thank You
I’ve been writing Humble Theology for years now, and I’m consistently amazed by the community that’s formed around these explorations of Scripture, theology, how to respond to the cultural moment with a Biblical perspective, and the supernatural worldview of the Bible. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just stumbled upon my work recently, thank you for being part of this conversation.
Today, I want to extend a special invitation to go deeper.
For a limited time (next 48hrs), I’m offering 30% off an annual subscription to Humble Theology.
What You Get as a Paid Subscriber
First, you’ll unlock the complete backlog of all my theology essays. Years of work on how to read and understand the Bible, Old Testament Theology, New Testament Theology, Angels and Demons and much more. These aren’t just blog posts; they’re carefully researched pieces that connect the ancient worldview of the Biblical text to our modern context.
Second, you’ll get exclusive posts that only paid subscribers see. These are often my most vulnerable and and raw writings. The pieces where I’m thinking out loud, testing ideas, and inviting a smaller community into the process.
Third, and perhaps most exciting, you’ll gain insight into my current research and early drafts of papers. Right now, I’m deep in work on Christian Nationalism—examining its theological claims, its relationship to biblical authority, and what a truly Christ-centered politics might look like. As a paid subscriber, you’ll see this work develop in real time. You’ll read rough drafts, follow my research notes, and have a front-row seat to the messy, beautiful process of theological thinking.
Why This Matters
I’ve spent my career trying to make complex theological concepts accessible without losing any substance. My PhD work on spiritual warfare, my time studying under Dr. Michael Heiser, my decade at Proverbs 31 Ministries, all of it has taught me that people are hungry for theology that takes Scripture seriously while remaining connected to real life all within the context of humility.
Humble Theology exists because I believe every day Christians deserve access to the kind of biblical scholarship that’s usually reserved for the ivory tower of academia or buried in technical journals.
The paid subscription model allows me to keep doing this work while building a community of people who want to go deeper together.
The Offer
For a limited time, you can get 30% off an annual subscription. That’s a full year of exclusive content, research insights, and complete access to the archive—all for less than you’d pay for a couple of theology books.
If you’ve found value in what we’re doing here, if you want to support this work, or if you’re simply curious about diving deeper into the theological questions that matter most, I’d love to have you join us.
Grateful for you!
~ Dr. Joel

How To Pick A Bible Translation
The most common question I get asked is, “Dr. Joel, what Bible translation do you recommend?” Now, I usually respond with a quip: “Honestly, whatever translation you will actually read.” And I truly do mean it. Sometimes I worry we treat our Bibles like how I treat my TBR (to be read) books in my Amazon cart. I purchase the book(s). They get to my house. They sit on a shelf. And they’ve been sitting for a while because a new book just came out that I want to read. In the process, I never actually finish reading (in some cases even starting) the books I’ve already bought!

Four Simple Principles for Deep Bible Study
As a PhD student in theology, I recently found myself surrounded by towering stacks of academic texts—ten different books demanding my attention over three months. But in a moment of quiet conviction, I realized something troubling: I was spending more time reading books
How To Read The Bible Responsibly
In our modern world of hot takes and quick opinions, approaching Scripture with care and responsibility has never been more important. The Bible remains the most influential texts in human history, yet it's often misunderstood, misquoted, and misapplied.
House of David: A Theologian's Analysis: Introduction and Cosmic Geography
I sat down with my family of six over the weekend to watch the new House of David series on Amazon Prime. I'll be honest—I was seriously skeptical at first. I love the Biblical story and I love good art and film. The last major renditions of Biblical stories on the big screen were either so far out there that they made my theological brain hurt, or they were so boring, tired, and typical that they froze my creative brain in a state of hibernation. But some friends said this one would be different. And my kids are savage when it comes to determining the quality of something. So we all sat down—me, my three sons, my five-year-old daughter, and my wife.
