About Humble Theology
You don’t need a seminary degree to think deeply about God.
You just need someone to be a guide as work through challenging theological questions, original language analysis, and think about how to contextualize all of this in our culture today.
That’s what I’m here to do.
I’m Joel Muddamalle. I serve as Director of Theology and Research for Proverbs 31 Ministries and Lysa TerKeurst, and I’m part of the preaching team at Transformation Church with Pastor Derwin Gray. I earned my PhD in Theology under Dr. Patrick Schreiner (New Testament) and Dr. Michael Heiser (Old Testament), with research on Paul’s household language in Ephesians and its Old Testament roots.
But here’s what matters more than the credentials: I love taking the brilliant, layered truths of Scripture and showing how they actually touch your everyday life. Spiritual warfare. Angels and demons. The questions most teaching skips over. If you’ve ever finished a sermon wanting to go deeper, this is for you.
A free subscription gets you my theology articles delivered straight to your inbox — niche deep-dives on topics like spiritual warfare, angels and demons, and the themes I’m exploring in my book projects. Every new post is free for its first six weeks. You won’t miss a thing.
Why go paid?
My goal is to keep producing serious theological content — essays, articles, reviews, and eventually full courses — and to keep as much of it free as I possibly can. That’s only sustainable because of readers who choose to support the work. When you upgrade, you make this ministry possible and unlock the deeper end of everything I do:
A monthly theology essay — careful, in-depth writing on a passage, doctrine, or question I don’t have room to explore in the free posts.
Theology Talk Tuesday Round-Ups — clear, no-jargon answers to the questions readers ask me most. The kind of straight answers you wish you could get on demand.
Full access to the complete archive — posts go free for six weeks, then move into the archive. As a paid subscriber, every article and study I’ve ever written stays open to you, searchable whenever a question hits.
