I find that I’m more content in the wrestling as I age. My goal is less a final, definitive conclusion and more the joy of discovery as I examine differing arguments. It allows me to listen with compassion and understanding to those who differ. And it always means I’m forced to confront my own views with humility as I hold my “rightness” with a loose hand.

Alarming where modern interpretations lead one to conclude.

I first heard the quote—“the Bible was written for us, it was not written to us”—from Dr. H. However, I believe it may come from Paul originally based on 1 Corinthians 10:11:

“Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”
