Thank you, Joel. I knew deep in my heart but it was nice to have this confirmed. My Brother in Law took his life 30 years ago, at age 38. And just this past week, I attended a funeral of a 29 year old who also took his life. Both left behind young daughters. We need to stop the stigma of anxiety and depression and stop letting Satan win these battles.

I've never had this explained in 45+ years, nor have I asked. My aunt (who we were closest to and who hosted my wedding shower) took her life and left two teen daughters, husband and myriad family members to grapple with the tragedy. Thank you for a beautiful reminder of God's love for us-it changes everything.

Many of us have been touched by the tragedy and heartbreak of suicide, whether up-close or from a distance. Your clarification is a blessing and a really sweet gift of peace and comfort to those who have wondered or may have been told differently. Thank you for that and thank you to our loving God and the sacrifice of His son, Jesus, for making it possible.

Thank you, Joel. My family has lost 4 members to suicide and several others, including myself have made attempts. Praise God for sparing my life! I have struggled for years with others comments about my family’s “unpardonable sins” and just could not grasp the thought of my God letting them spend eternity away from him for a choice they made in such a situation. Thank you for shedding light and love on this topic. Much needed and much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you for tackling this difficult issue and answering so gracefully. Our pastor (Mark Moore, CCV, Phoenix) recently answered this same question with the same conclusion. Before that, I was always led to believe it was unpardonable. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice that provides us forgiveness of ALL of our sins.

This brought tears to my eyes- my dad took his life in a prescription drug overdose when I was 11 years old. I’ve always wondered if I will ever see him again. Thank you for sharing this article with us.
